Mud pump refers to the machine that conveys flushing fluid such as mud or water to the borehole during drilling. Mud pump is an important part of drilling equipment.
In common positive circulation drilling, mud pump transmits surface flushing medium - clear water, mud or polymer flushing fluid to the bottom of drill bit directly through high pressure hose, tap and drill string center hole under certain pressure, in order to cool the drill bit, remove the cut rock debris and transport it to the surface.
The common mud pump is piston or plunger type. The crankshaft of the pump is rotated by the power engine. The crankshaft drives the piston or plunger to and fro in the pump cylinder through the cross head. The purpose of pressing and circulating flushing fluids is realized under the alternating action of suction and discharge valves.
